The South West Metro Pirates are thrilled to announce the appointment of Patrick Ewing Jr. as the new Men's Head Coach for the 2025/26 NBL1 seasons.
Ewing Jr., a seasoned player and coach, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Pirates organization.
As the son of NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing, Ewing Jr. grew up immersed in the world of basketball. He played his college basketball at Georgetown University, where he made significant contributions to the team’s success and continued the Ewing legacy. After college, he pursued a professional career, playing in the NBA and various international leagues, where he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the game.
Transitioning to coaching, Ewing Jr. has spent time as an assistant coach at the collegiate level back at his alma mater Georgetown University. He then moved to the Canadian Elite basketball league, firstly as assistant coach at the Ottawa Blackjacks, then head coach for the Newfoundland Growlers where he also was general manager. He joined the Pirates last year as the lead assistant coach for our mens team and is currently part of the Brisbane Bullets as a Player Development Coach.
