Junior Representative Program

For young athletes aspiring to further their basketball journey beyond our club competition, donning the gold and purple to play for the Pirates is the next level to strive for!

Our junior representative teams participate in two competitions - South Qld Junior Basketball Competition (SQJBC) and the BQ State Championships.  We select boys and girls' teams in U12, 14, 16 & 18 age groups to participate in these competitions.

SQJBC is played in a season format involving representative teams from all SEQ associations. Each age group consists of multiple divisions, with a grading tournament held prior to determine which division a team plays in. This competition is conducted within a school term (U12 - T3, U14 - T2, U16 - T1, U18 - T4).

During the holidays immediately following SQJBC our teams then participate in the BQ State Championships - a 4 or 5 day tournament that includes all representative teams throughout Queensland. This is a huge occasion for all involved and hopefully your team will come away as a State Champion!

Being involved in rep basketball with the Pirates also opens up opportunities to higher pathways, notably selection to U16 & U18 Queensland teams to participate in the national championships. There are also BQ development programs to aspire to including FDP (U14), QLD Emerging Squads (U15 & U17), and SPP (U16 & U18).

Trials for our representative teams are normally held 8-10 weeks before season commencement for each age group. Keep an eye on this page and our social media for date announcements.
