AN IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE SWMBI PRESIDENT RE: CORONAVIRUS MEASURES/PRECAUTIONS/ACTIONS

South Western Metro Basketball Inc. "Covid 19"

Update 16/03/20

Basketball Queensland are holding a meeting with all associations tomorrow (17th March 2020) to decide on the future plans of all BQJBC games and the NBL1/QSL season going forward, we will advise all members once a decision has been made by BQ.

Our local club games that were held over the weekend were very well controlled and it was very good to see athletes, parents, coaches and the likes following the procedures and minimising risks with good hygiene, not loitering and minimising presence on the sidelines.

We have posted a number of signs at Hibiscus to educate and inform our patrons on the methods of maintaining good hygiene and information issued by Qld health on COVID19.

The Australian Government has asked for "Social Distance" and no "Mass Gatherings" (500 people or more).

Queensland Health is still okay for all schools and work places to stay open for now, so South West Metro will continue to keep their doors open and continue business as usual until further advised.

Parents/Coaches/Managers/Players and all association members, please understand that you do not have to attend training schedules and or games if you do not wish to expose your children and or yourselves to any potential risks – the choice is totally your own.

**Please note: To date, we have not have had any confirmed cases of anyone suffering from the virus in our association**

Preventative measures to reduce your risk of infection: • Clean hands frequently with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water • Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow • Avoid close contact (1 metre) with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms

Symptoms that people may experience • Runny nose • Sore throat • Cough • Fever • Difficulty breathing (severe cases)
