The South West Metro Pirates Basketball Association are seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant position for the 2020 QBL season:
Men’s Senior team Head Coach (QBL)
The South West Metro Pirates Basketball Association are based in the suburb of Mount Gravatt, Brisbane with close to 2,000 playing members. The Pirates have been competing in the Queensland Basketball League since 2002 and have a rich history of success and player development, with the Men’s program crowned champions in 2003.
Working closely with the Coaching Director and Management Committee, the Head Coach of our Men’s team will be responsible for the development of players in preparation for senior basketball.
This role is pivotal in leading our senior program, integrating with our juniors and continuing our strong connection to the basketball community in South West Brisbane.
The successful candidate will be required to possess:
A Working with Children’s Check;
Experience coaching within the QBL or similar system (level 2 coaching qualification preferred);
Knowledge of the Pirates pathway;
A desire to build a program with an emphasis on incorporating Pirates players into the program whilst enhancing connections with the local community.
Exceptional basketball knowledge;
The ability to develop Pirates junior players into senior players in line with the Pirates philosophy of individual player development and Pirates style of play;
Outstanding communication, motivation & managerial skills within a coaching and player development environment;
Ability to create a professional culture that emphasises holistic development;
Organised, adaptable and willing to work within the structure of the wider association;
