Carlson Cautious!

Import 6'4" centre, Erica Carlson, is a day by day prospect to suit up for the Pirates in Saturday's game against the Sunshine Coast Rip.

Last year's leading shot blocker is recovering from an infection after surgery which kept her out of her teams grand final series in Germany. Erica trained with the team Thursday night and will see how the wrist feels before committing to the match on Saturday. The team at ACE Sports Medicine have been working overtime to have everyone back on court. The Pirates, Charlie Kiemann, is still doubtful with a back injury, Celeste Williams in another couple of weeks a way with an ankle injury, so Coach Hannan will be looking for a contribution from all members of the roster to get them across the line. She got that last week with all players making a contribution. Of course if Sidney Parsons' white hot form continues after her 50 point outburst last week then Coach Hannan will have less to stress about. Expect to see another gritty performance from Parson's who somehow missed out on Player of the Week honors despite the injuries the team was carrying and the fact that no one else on the team reached double figures. The Rip coaches will have viewed the video of last weeks game and will have their game plan in place for Parsons. This could provide more space for Parson's team mates and an opportunity to keep the score table people busy on the Pirate's side of the score sheet! The QBL girls tip off at 5.30pm with both SBL teams playing beforehand at 3.00pm and the men at 7.30pm. The Sunshine Coast Rip have developed a large following already. The excitement of making the jump to QBL from SBL this season will have a large contingent of fans following them to the "Ship", so get to the game early to get a good seat as a full house is expected!
