Ryan Vines a key signing for the Pirates!

Ryan Vines will play his ninth consecutive season at QBL level with the 2016 Dionysius Transport Pirates. A great example of hard work and commitment Ryan started as an eager 17 year old in 2008. He bided his time on the pine and worked diligently at his game off the court and gradually, 4 years later worked his way into the rotation in 2012. He had a break out year in 2013 and in 2014 was among the league's leaders in assists while helping the Pirates to the playoffs for the first time in five years. Off the court he managed to get his degree and help develop the game running Aussie Hoops programs, coaching teams and doing individuals with kids.

During the last few off seasons Ryan spent time at the College of Coastal Georgia and pursued an opportrunity at an Academy in Spain and some time with Aaron Fearne and the Cairns Taipans. This last off season Ryan spent his time working with NBL Coach of the Year,

Shawn Dennis, training with the Townsville Crocodiles.

"He is a great ambassador for the club and we are glad to have him back. His player card will be one of the most popular with our purple fans", said QBL Chair Peter Pollock,"With Teys, Pittle and now RV we have a very solid backcourt"

And no that is not the guy from Hunger Games!
