Olympic, WNBL, AIS, and QBL experience for SBL girls!

Last years QBL coaches Peter Pollock and Clayde Osborne will steer the SBL women's "Ship" after Chris Rideout was unable to committ to the season. The coaching team provides some familiarity to the QBL/SBL. program. Clayde has had great success in recent years developing young players and now has a year of QBL experience under his belt. Peter is familiar with the league and has also been a part of developing the clubs players, leading the U18 Pirate girls to a state championship a few years back. Peter played for 5 years in the NBL and has won state titles at U12, U14, U18, U20, U23, QBL and Victorian Championships.

Both squads train together under the guidance of Fiona Hannan and Nikki Bairstow.

"We have a wealth of talent through our girls program all the way from U12's through to U21's. We are keen to ensure these girls get the exposure and opportunity to work with coaches like Fiona (Hannan - Olympic Bronze Medalist 1996) and Nikki (former WNBL and AIS coach). When I was a teenage kid I was fortunate to have Boomer represenative, Mark Bragg come to my home town in north Queensland and share his experience and knowledge. It was a life changing experience for me. I became aware of what was required to play at the highest level. It is exciting to now see that same opportinity to be given to our girls. I am looking forward to working with our girls and keen to learn from Fiona and Nikki", said Pollock.
