COVID-19 - An update from the General Manager

The world is currently in the grip of a COVID-19 Pandemic and all organisations are required to do their part in minimising the spread of this disease that has far reaching implications for us all. We want to protect and maintain a safe environment for our members and on Tuesday we met with Basketball Queensland and the other SEQ associations to plan what we needed to do to at this time.

South West Metro Basketball Inc. has made the difficult decision to suspend all Basketball competitions and trainings for its domestic competitions, including Friday and Saturday Juniors, McDonald's Superhoopers, Sunday Night Men’s, Tuesday Women’s and Wednesday Men’s, in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic. This should also include all club trainings that are conducted by the SWM clubs at your various venues.

The Government recently announced that indoor gatherings must be limited to a maximum of 100 persons and there may be even more measures that will be put into place. When we have further news we will advise you all and we ask everyone to stay safe and protect your families in these difficult times.

Our plan is to revisit the situation on a regular basis and we will update all clubs and members when the next review takes place - at present this will be after the school holidays when we can determine if we can resume or remain suspended.

There are also significant changes to our representative programs with trainings and games currently suspended.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME AND PLEASE PASS THIS ONTO YOUR MEMBERS.

Regards

Rob Tankey
