EXPERIENCE ADDED TO STEER THE SHIP

March 13, 2018

South West Metro Basketball is excited to Welcome Charmian Mellars to the Pirates Basketball Family.

* New Zealand Women's National Basketball Team 2008
* 2008 Beijing Olympics
* Christchurch Siren Women's National Basketball League
* 2001 New Zealand's MVP U23 category
* Older sister to Natalie Taylor

At the end of the 2017 QBL season, there was a number of areas that we identified that the women's program needed to get substantially better to get into the final 4. One of these areas was strengthing our front-line with grit, determination and skill to ensure that we could match it with the top teams in the competition.
Like every coach, we also want the best of character in these players as well, and I am excited to say that we have all of that and more when it comes to Charmian Mellars.
Char has a very long and impressive resume that will help us immensely but will also help us with our younger female athletes as we build for the future. - Jason Chainey Head Coach

Great to have you on-board Charmian!
